The big market of Tablet PC has attracted Research In Motion (RIM) to follow other competitors to produce this gadget. On April 19, 2011 RIM finally launched its first Tablet PC named BlackBerry PlayBook. At a glance this gadget looks so exclusive and offers great performance, but don’t put your heart to this gadget right away before you read the review as follows.

The PlayBook comes in 7-inch screen with 0.9 pounds weight. Until now, there is no measurement on the appropriate size of Tablet PC because each person has his own favorite size. On top of this gadget, you can find four buttons: volume up, volume down, play/pause, and small power button. Unfortunately, you have to firmly press those buttons to get them working. The location of those buttons is really inconvenient because they are far away from the position of your fingers when you hold this gadget.

A five megapixel camera on the back of this gadget delivers great photo result. To accommodate video-chat option, the PlayBook is installed with a three megapixel front camera. On the bottom part, you will find three ports: micro-HDMI, charging connector, and micro-USB. 3.5mm headphone jack is available so you can connect this gadget with external audio system.

Playbook is equipped with 1GHz TI OMAP processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16, 32, or 64GB of storage. With the supports from its processor and RAM, this Tablet PC shows good performance for gaming. Several software updates have been released by BlackBerry to eliminate some weaknesses of this gadget. On its default setting, you will find many applications. But you can eliminate the unwanted applications off from this Tablet.

On connectivity, this Tablet PC can run on 4G network and you can have several carrier choices later this year. There is no doubt on connection performance of this gadget. The battery will give you enough power to run anything within a day. With a single charging during the night you can use it all day long such as for all-day presentation, browse websites, play some games, etc. However, if compared to other competitors, the PlayBook’s battery is categorized into medium-pack performance.

Need to type email? The PlayBook has a good digital keyboard configuration. You can use either landscape or portrait mode to write business document or write new status on some social networking sites. Copy and paste shortcut is available to ease you copying from other sources into your writing. Fortunately, RIM has partnered with the Adobe Company that makes PlayBook users able to read PDF files on this gadget. The 16GB PlayBook is sold at $499, add $100 to get the 32GB version, and add $200 to get the 64GB version.
