iPhone 4 VS 4S
0Normally, when phone manufacturers release successors of popular models, there are design features that make the successors distinct. Take for example the Google Nexus S and its predecessor the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. There may be a few similarities. However, next generation handsets often sport revamped designs that make them more unique. When it comes to the iPhone 4 and the 4S, there is no difference in terms of design.
Both phones sport the same dimensions. The two are 115.2 mm in height, 58.6 mm in width, and 9.3 mm in thickness. They are relatively the same when it comes to weight. The former is 137 grams and the later is 140 grams. They also sport the same buttons and same layout. They even come with the same 3.5 inch Retina Display. In a nutshell, they look exactly the same.
This was disappointing for Apple enthusiasts since they were expecting a lot of changes with the next generation smartphone. Apple’s cult following expected a larger Retina Display since Android handsets came with 4 inch displays. Aside from a larger touch screen, people expected a revamped design, slimmer profile, and rounded edges. When the new handset was unveiled back in October of this year, there were a lot of fans who were disappointed. (more…)
How To Keep Your iPod Unblemished And Secure With A Good Quality Case
1If you’re always bringing your iPod along with you no matter where you go, it may seem like your music player is your closest companion. Like a good chum whom you can rely on to cheer you up, it’s always available with some of your favorite music.
When you’re here and there with your iPod, you’re liable to bang it up just a bit through everyday usage, which is sometimes difficult to avoid. Any number of sharp, pointy accoutrements you keep in your bag can scrape up against your iPod and cause damage that will mar its appearance.
Craft your own case for your iPod, and that will likely cut down on the damage that it bears due to your keys or other metal items scraping up against it. You can create your own pouch to protect your iPod from future damages and keep it in spotless shape so that it will always perform properly over time.
Make use of your sewing skills and construct your own iPod case with the help of instructions you’ll quickly find on the Internet. Not everyone is inclined toward making things, or has the time to do so, and for them, it’s a better idea to simply buy iPod cases. (more…)
How to Download and Read EBooks on Your Kindle Reader For Mac
0You’ve probably heard of the Amazon Kindle, an extremely popular wireless ebook reader. Amazon boasts that over 850,000 books are available for download to the Kindle. And there are more than 1.8 million out-of-copyright books you can get for free. How about that?
But what if you don’t have a Kindle? Then you’re still in luck. Amazon has developed an army of reader apps for just about anyone who has access to the Internet via smart phone or computer.
Since I have a MacBook Air, this article focuses on the Kindle Reader for Mac.
Get an Amazon account first.
You’ll need to register for an account with Amazon before you can start downloading. For most people, you’ll sign-in just like you do when you buy something from the Amazon store.
Once you’re signed in, you’ll need to navigate to the Kindle Store. Here you’ll see everything related to the Amazon Kindle.
Take a look at the left sidebar and you’ll see the list of Kindle reading apps. Current choices include the iPad, iPhone, PC, Mac, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7. Click on Kindle for Mac and you’ll be taken to the page where you can download the reader for Mac.
Here’s where some of the Mac users with older hardware and operating systems may be left out. To use Kindle for Mac, you’ll have to be running Mac OS X 10.5 and above, have at least 512 MB of RAM and 100MB of available disk space AND own a Mac with a 500MHz Intel processor. So basically, you need a Mac bought in the last few years and have upgraded to Leopard or Snow Leopard.
Download the Kindle Reader for Mac software.
Downloading the Kindle reader app for Mac is as simple as everything else you’ll do on your Mac. Just click the download button and you’ll see the disk image in your download files. Once the download is complete, double click on the disk image called KindleForMac.dmg.
You’ll probably see a warning about opening a file that ‘s been downloaded from the Internet, but keep going anyway. A Finder window will open showing the Kindle app and your Applications folder. Drag the Kindle for Mac into your Applications folder and now you’re ready to start finding some great books.
Now that you have the e-reader application installed, you can head back to the Kindle Store and look around a little. You’ll find New York Times bestsellers and even new releases starting at just $9.99. And many authors and publishers offer free book samples, so you can read the first chapter before deciding to buy. One thing you won’t find is Kindle newspapers, magazines and blogs. These options are not currently available for the Mac reader.
So what are you waiting for? Get your Kindle for Mac app today!
