There has never been a better time than now to be in the market for a high-speed cellular connection thanks to 4G. Although different standards have different advantages and disadvantages, they’re all going to be fast and reliable. Nevertheless, as an intelligent consumer you want to choose the best one. After you analyze the different kinds of cellular solutions you can sign up for, one is probably going to rise above the rest as being the superior option.

Although HSPA+ wasn’t the first 4G solution to hit the market, it probably should be discussed first because it is potentially the least desirable solution. It is going to be fast and reliable, but thanks to the fact that it’s based heavily on the 3G network it isn’t going to be as fast in the future as the other options. There’s only so much you can do with a dated infrastructure and as a consumer you have to be aware that HSPA+ is working with older infrastructure. As a direct result of that, HSPA+ has highly restrictive data caps in place. In fact, you could very easily exceed those data caps after streaming a single HD movie. The bottom line is that this standard was only meant to be used on cell phones, and not cell phones with advanced capabilities.

Another option you have at your disposal is Wimax. Unlike the previous option, it has entirely new infrastructure in place and thus is future-proof. In other words, you can rest assured that it’s going to be able to keep up with all that the internet has in store for you both now and in the future. It has also been around the longest out of all the other options. As a result, it has had time to roll out a quality network for its customers to enjoy. Unlike with the other options, you won’t have to worry about data caps at all with this standard because you will be allotted unlimited data transfer each month. Since the connection is so fast, this is definitely an important feature. From the looks of it, it’s going to be hard to beat this option.

Another option you can choose is known as Long Term Evolution or LTE. It claims to be a lot faster than the others but the reality is that it’s not that much faster, especially when it comes to practical real world usage. It’s also based on a next generation 4G network and is thus expected to grow with the times. The only downside is that it features restrictive data caps just like HSPA+. Although the data caps aren’t as severe, you will eventually run into them if you make heavy use of the internet. Since the connection is so fast, it doesn’t make sense to have to deal with data caps.

As you can see, a winner clearly rises to the top when you take a look at your options. The best solution is fast, based on next generation technology, and doesn’t force you to deal with data caps. That option is Wimax.
